EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

True. . but isn't there more of a process to making that stuff besides throwing some water on it and letting it rot for three days? Lol.
Not debating either side. . I don't have a dog in the race. Everyone is entitled to do what keeps their birds healthy.
I'm still just trying to wrap my head around wet smelly feed being a good thing. I Don't think It's for me.
Do people feed ducks fermented food also or just chickens?

Actually, pickles and sourdough are exactly as easy as throwing water on it and letting it sit. Pickles are just put in a brine solution and you COULD add spices for flavor, but it's basically brine and cucumbers. Sourdough is just flour mixed with water and then fed more flour and water every day. Natural yeast is the result.

ETA that the old way of making vinegar is just wine that developed a sour taste instead of sweetness and the old way of making win was just crushing the grapes and allowing the natural yeast on the skin to ferment the juice. Same with cider and beer, only with their respective materials.

Get a jar...put just 1/4 cup of what ever feed you have in it and add some water...
Let it sit on your counter for a few days. Then toss it out to the birds..
they will think you are feeding them Corn!!!
I always put a pill of probiotics or a tbs of natural Yougurt .

I just got off of the phone with "my" feed company...
The first 3 ingredients are listed as this:
INGREDIENT STATEMENT: Grain products, plant protein products, processed grain by-products

TAKE A WILD GUESS what the number one ingredient is????
Anyone???
@Wickedchicken6
He said corn and milo, alfafa, then the third product is millet!
I almost pooped. (not really)

Okay I'm off to bed. Honeybee is putting on pounds now and when I'm not eating I seem to only be sleeping.
Sweet dreams...you better get all the sleep you can now..soon you will be a walking zombie!
