I'm going to have to side with Banty here. Can't handle the heat either. I'd need a lovely large house with perfect air conditioning and an attached garage so I wouldn't have to experience the outside air.:p

sweat is a natural de-toxin. We are smack center State. An hour West we are at the Gulf, an hour East at the Atlantic. 11 hours from the Keys. No plans to go THAT North. Am going back to Ohio in the spring.
If I wanted snow, I can buy it in a spray can at Walmart.

Are you saying I'm full of toxins?? :th
Maybe that's why I'm hard to get along with. :p:wee

Not. I could either complain for half the year or more about the grey, freezing misery of the outdoors, breaking ice, and shovelling or I could be thrilled to have a season of no bugs, no lawnmowing, hockey, constantly tired rugrats (from sledding,) and warm coats. :love

Unfortunately I haven't found the positive side to summer yet... I'm trying but I just can't see an upside to 80* weather.

How is your little piglet doing? You said he's having some issues?
I think neurological. Just gave her some more space to build muscle mass. She is under developed compared to the rest.
Got her running in circles.. Good sign. Too clumbsey and I think poor vision.
She was barely alive when I took her in. So progress is occurring but gradually. Bought a liquid Iron supplement last night to help avoid sticking in too many needles.

The Tub she just graduated from..

The roomy kiddie pool has her moving and exploring.
Piglets are supposed to be high energy and doing cart wheels like goat kids. Because of rapid growth rates.. super charged. This one is stuck in first gear.. at the present time anyway.

Had to wrap poultry wire around it so she stops climbing out and smacking the concrete.

DH is in the other room Squaking and ranting about the people responding to our ads in the classifieds.
He put in all the chicken ads stating well don't sell Chickens already laying Eggs. (ON THE FIRST AND LAST LINE), only 1 week old to 4 months max.
He got 4 calls in a row asking for hens laying brown eggs right now. The last caller he asked if she knew how to read.. He is getting huffy and puffy...:lau
He said to me.. If a hung a sign that says danger do not enter.. the room would be full of dumb ______.
Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the farm.

We don't sell stuff that old because we have too much money and time invested in them. Average bird now is 10/15-$20 max.(large layers) At six months old they already ate fifty clams! Those ladies are going into our egg production house to pay us back for the cost of raising them.

Got a question for y'all. I have 2 eggs outta 4 that made it to lockdown on 18th day of incubation. They arenow on day 22. Last night, end of day 21, one started moving and rocking the egg. The other hasn't showed any sign of moving, so I candled both no internal pip, tapped air sac no peeps. So I placed egg in warm water it floats and shows slight moving in water. So seems both are still alive. Although one has bigger air sac..the one that has been moving since yesterday. My question is, How long to wait before checking to see if they're positioned correctly? I want to let them hatch on their own, if possible, but am ready to intervene if absolutely needed and possible to save them. These are not chicks for a breeding program or anything, just a couple from my own flock. I just enjoy raising and hatching and am new to incubating. This is only 2nd time for me. I also am teaching my children and edcutating them on development process along the way. Any help is appreciated.

I bought a new pair of sweat pants to try out, just for wearing around home. MEN's pants so they're cheaper. They have pockets!! The women's thin crappy pants were between $20-30 dollars. The chickens don't care what I look like. Anyways...we all got new socks too and we picked out our own colors this morning.
(I wear men's socks and they ALWAYS end up taking my socks):barnie

I am wearing the new pants and socks & they feel positively exquisite!! :love:wee
And better yet...no holes. :clap
Pockets?? Sweet!

That's why I make my own skirts. Nobody seems to know how to put nice pockets in them.

They're plenty warm, thanks.

I'd rather be full of toxins than melted into a puddle.

Beach is fun, but SO crowded. I think there were almost a hundred people there the last time I went. Well, maybe less, but there was a lot.

Watermelon? Why can't you eat that in winter too?
