EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Something just occurred to me; wonder if it would work.
You've heard of setting fence posts with dry Sacrete, letting the underground moisture cause it to set overnight? I've set my posts like that for years! I wonder if you could do the same with a slab on top of the ground; form it up, level the Sacrete, & probably spray the surface a little to make up for the lack of underground moisture. Wonder if it would set up properly.

Okay you two, here's the deal. Neither of you do any shady business with sun porches or basements or spiders and you'll both get coops. Deal? Good! I reserve the right to stop work if temps hit 80 down in that steamy jungle you call home.
Abi didn't agree to your terms; she's out of luck.

DH fills the post holes with water then pours the concrete dry into the holes and pokes with a bar.
Also, the guys that built our deck out back (years before we moved in) placed stacked unopen bags of sacrete for all the field supports.
It was a jerry rig but it has held up 25 years.

I don't know Whites.. But with a Dog team, construction workers and all the rug rats, that's a lot of mouths to feed.
Not a problem. I raised do for better than 40 years, sometimes having as many as 17 at once; I think I can manage to feed one dog team alright. "Course, they'd have to get used to dry feed; we're short of Caribou & seal meat this season.
As for the rugrats, DW ran a daycare here for several years; I got used to having several running around at once. I have spikes driven into every other stud to hang miscreants on.

I've heard of your DH's method; never tried it.
The other way seems like a huge waste of Sacrete
