EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I needed it for my husband, and for his great aunt.

Husband got it from the hospital during a back surgery. His great aunt got it when a doctor cleaned her ears out, and she began to bleed. She got it again from a hospital stay.

Are you sure it was Vancomycin? As I understand it Vancomycin is an antibiotic that does not leave the gut. Unless he picked up C-diff or colitis Vancomycin would do not good. I know there is another antibiotic that sounds a lot like vancomycin but that name escapes me now, it would work on the back.

Good morning everyone! :frow
25*F when I got up, a balmy 28*F now.
I think I have the fence fixed now, so that Clover is unable to crawl through now. I don't mind her around the chickens and the bucks, it's just that once she is in there she is essentially free by crawling under a fence and I live on a state route that can be busy at times.

I wish it would get as high as 25 here today!!! You are so lucky to have that heat spell hitting you...

You win. Odd. I wonder how I've been making that mistake.

You might have, I'm new to this particular subject. I only know something was in it as I was getting ready to toss the eggs that had not piped. Its the last one though and the rest are hatched.
I’ve had the same fear, and so made a small external pip in the air cell, especially if there is an internal pip. But that’s it! Let the baby do the rest :) And definitely read Sally’s articles! There are some downs to assisted hatch. I have lost one i did help, saved a few. Good luck!! And keep us posted.

I am glad you got it fixed. If you want to do more fencing or shed work I could use more hands tomorrow ;)
32°F here

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday.
It’s to cold and I’ve just got my coffee cup. Think I’ll stay in my brooder room today playing with my chicks.
