@BantyChooks I would help with your coop if you lived closer.
@campingshaws Way to be patient. Go duckies.
@mlm Mike @kajira . Since you need to post, what do you think I should do?
I am going to condense to two coops for the winter. I have a fancy large coop that is essentially an 8 1/2 by 10' shed, that is very secure and no chance of drafts. I have a second red combo coop that is more of a traditional raised coop. It is also possibly a bit drafty though I can plastic up the plywood windows.
Now I have two choices. I can put my expensive breeder HRIR pullets and mine into the red combo coop and put those pullets and my selected pullets and cockerel for next year in it pulling the couple of green egg layers that I want with my Ameraucana and EE roos into the main coop now. This is the less safe/or at least warm coop, but would mean only one flock integration. The other option is to. Put the reds in the main coop and the Ameraucana cockerel and two hens he is with into the smaller coop. Then change everything in the spring for breeding.
What do you think?
@ChickenCanoe
I would put my most valued flock in the most secure coop.
