EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Oh, sure. I have to admit I've been turning my studies on here more towards breeding to standard rather than random chicken stuff, so I'm not on the chatter threads so much, but I'm still here.

Hatching season is coming up very shortly and of course I'll be back full force then to bore you all to death with pictures.
Never happen.

You might could set the bucket in a larger one & heat the water in the larger bucket. The problem would be keeping the water warm with an aquarium heater; either the outer bucket wouldn't be deep enough or the kids would find a way to pull the heater out.
There is a bucket heater on the market that the bucket either sits on or that is submerged & sits on the bottom (inside); can't remember which. It's a fairly substantial affair. I think it was @Ur-ur-ur-urrr who had one; @BantyChooks could probably tell you. Joey's a bit tough to reach, though.
I have the heaters he suggested, but that would not be good in milk.

I am wondering if I can wrap it in heat tape, or if I can fill a waterproof container of some kind with something. I really need to to be reusable like my microwave pet pads, or inexpensive like to warmers. Boiling water in a bottle like frozen ones for cold just won't last long. Thinking........
A cloth bag full with buckwheat 45 seconds in the microwave and you have it for long time.
Sobacawa pillow .
