EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Didn't have my car today, my mail lady brought it to me. Small town. gotta love them! LOL

...
There is a little one room post office at the turnoff to my in-laws' house. It isn't more than a tiny log cabin. I thought it was there as a replica of days gone by.
My 74 year old sister told me she started working for the post office about a year or two ago. I had no idea till recently, that little cabin is where she works.

Mornin Mr. Educator!! How is the wife and kids? Hope you are well this day!
wow really???? how many days till halloween? lets do hundred posts a day? how many ya think he has typically?

Mornin Beautiful Awesome KAT!
We still have to get work done and have a personal life.

This is Pebbles, my prized buff silkie rooster... He's staying for good. He will break up fighting cockerels, keep them from terrifying the hens, yet not try to murder them. He'll warn the flock when danger lurks. He treats the ladies wonderfully, giving them tidbits, but he doesn't overmate them.
Best of all? He respects me fully.
Nice. My coop fairy had taught her silkie serama cross rooster to move the flock from one yard to another with voice commands.

Perhaps contact the local high school and they may have some shop students that need some hands on carpentry experience and aren't afraid of ladders. Or pick a carpenter off of craigslist working on the side.

cons: very expensive, they can die as fast as a chicken, limited gene pool (inbred), takes a big freezer, so cute you won't want to eat them

pros: friendly, eat grass, cute

Sally,
you are amazing, I do not think that there is a posting that you do not respond to and with careful thought. How do you find the time?

Are there very many in your area? I read they are a Maori breed that all came from 18 hogs brought to New Zealand. Then they were exported to the UK and US.

How very timely for me. I took a bunch of chicken photos last night!

This is Smoky, my Lavender Orpington. He is 17 weeks old and just now getting his tail feathers. He is super fluffy and very cautious. He is also super clumsy as though he hasn't grown into his own feet.

This is little Lemon. He is 24 weeks old and super tiny. He is the sweetest rooster I've ever had. He is supposed to be a cream legbar, but he is definitely not one. Any breed guesses appreciated.

This is Pokey (aka Roadrunner). He is a 17 week old Olive Egger. He is very FAST and I cannot catch him to handle him anymore. He does all he can to avoid me and I like having him around. He crows all day long and seems like he will be a good flock protector. Too bad he wasn't a hen, as I really wanted Olive Eggs and he's the only one that hatched.
Beautiful lavender color.
Perhaps an Ancona cross.

yes, they are everywhere now, the immigration started rapidly increasing in November of 2012
We've had immigration here that really started in the early 90s. Not all of the Arabs are Muslim though. There are a lot of Lebanese and Syrian Christians here.
Our International Institute facilitates settlement here. Perhaps a quarter of our Muslims came from Bosnia and Herzegovina during that war.
About a third are from Southern Asia like Indonesia and Singapore.

I'll have to contact my Louisiana mentor, the all-time champeen one-word poster
