I was about to say that I’m expecting the first batch of ducklings anytime in the next ten days. I’m pretty sure I know when she sat, but it could have been a lot earlier.
I still need to baby proof the area since the fencing is big enough for ducklings to go through.

When I started doing staggered hatches almost continuously I started writing thehatch date on the eggs.... I think it was a recommendation from someone here, but I can't remember who

I have an Incubator Warehouse count down timer.
When it hits zero, it starts counting up but flashes. You can tell how early or late they are plus you know how old the chicks are until you reset it. Mine sits under the computer monitor.
It is really helpful to know when I need to prepare to put eggs in pedigree bags.
I also number all my eggs. Each setting gets a letter assigned. For instance, eggs in the first setting of the year are numbered A1 to A whatever. Each subsequent setting gets the next sequential letter.
Then in a notebook, each egg number has the starting weight, flock (rooster) number, hen number if I know it, egg darkness assessment, set date, whether the egg was washed, etc..

Yeah, she’s sitting. Those storms we’ve had should have made her run. I am a bit worried because the nest is loaded! I will not abort though. If they can make it, I will let them.

It’s actually trying to rain here. Ok sprinkle, well a few drops but it’s July. I’ll take the cooler weather anytime. In for a break as the batteries to the drill and saw need recharged and I don’t want to run a cord.
