EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Had a busy weekend here, butchered 5 roosters yesterday after working till noon and even managed to make it to the pumpkin carving/birthday party at my folks by 5. Kids got their pumpkins carved and all the pizza, cake and ice cream eaten so we were in bed by 11. After church my son helped me go and get the 50 bales of hay I bought a month ago, and now i am waiting on the canner to finish on the 7 jars of chicken soup starter we made from the rooster backs and parts that were left after we pieced em out. Whew ... still gotta gather and wash eggs so I can take em to town with me in the morning.
That is a busy day. I’d like to think the power outage saved a few roosters here

So far so good. However just keeping it full and not having the luxury of turning a switch on or the microwave or oven etc has made for a busy doing nothing day. It could be far worse. But the incubator and fish tank are running. :wee

Is it legal in Ca to have a whole house natural gas generator? That's what I have, the most my power can be out is a minute, and then the generator kicks on.

I finally pulled the clear quail eggs (all were clear), and the two chicken eggs that quit. The chicks were so tiny. It was kinda sad, but after all these years, I know not to dwell on it. That being said, I won’t be eating eggs anytime soon, but I feel that way after every incubator hatch.

Thanks. All is well so far. Generator made it through the night not sure how much gas is left. It’s a little windy now.

Incubator is cooking away.

And we all have our hot drinks. :lau

How’s the power situation in your area. Windy?
Hot drinks....hmmmm

I don’t think this one is my imagination. I don’t remember a scratch on any egg looking like this.
