(okay, it’s evening)

Is it legal in Ca to have a whole house natural gas generator? That's what I have, the most my power can be out is a minute, and then the generator kicks on.
Some how during the outages I missed some posts. They do sell dual gas generators but it’s propane. I’m seriously thinking on a propane one as I don’t have natural gas here.

I’m so cold, I finally turned on the heat. Now I’m sitting next to the brooder.

Back in February, I bought chicks. They had pasty butt, and were unhealthy in general. I had the big red bulb in the heat lamp, and had to keep it right on them until they were I think six weeks. When the house warms up, I am going to switch these chicks to a regular (old) colored light bulb. My point is that I am coming to realize just how unhealthy those feed store chicks were.

I cracked/dropped an egg that hasn’t pipped yet and I was expecting it to start today. It cracked and it crack on the air side of the larger end of the egg. I left it alone and placed it back in the makeshift incubator on top of a wet scot towel. Will it still pip??? What can I do?
Sorry, I'm late to the post. When I do that, I seal all cracks with liquid skin bandage. It is the only method of sealing that has resulted in chicks for me. I have tried bees wax and nail polish. None of those worked.
