Good point but cats wouldn't be a concern in the garden if they were in the house where they belong. Hence, the term housecat.
Shalom Mikei'm not sure I follow that logic. Barn cat is term, feral cat is a term, indoor/outdoor cat is a term.
40 outdoor cats on a single property means virtually no songbirds or any birds successfully reproducing in the area, let alone mammals like rabbits, chipmunks or amphibians surviving. The neighbors had over forty cats, and we were headed to the second house on the motorcycle. It was late, the cat was black... my husband has the insane ability to safely stop the bike on a dime. That cat died a few weeks later in the same area of the highway.
I am sure that the owners are infected with Toxoplasma gondii in the central nerve system that have changed their behaviour and made them fanatic cat lovers!40 outdoor cats on a single property means virtually no songbirds or any birds successfully reproducing in the area, let alone mammals like rabbits, chipmunks or amphibians surviving.
And with 40 cats running around outside, there's a good chance they either have high vet bills but probably not since they aren't really caring for them properly. They are also getting into trouble with raccoons, coyotes and other animals. I just wonder how many of those 40 they lose in the course of a year.
People acquire a bunch of cats and figure they can let them fend for themselves. They are mistaken. These are all invasive species that are a bane to the local wildlife.
