I wonder how many eggs an oegb/silkie can cover

My dad's best broody for his RIR's would set and hatch consistently, 18, she was a little japanese black bantam.... crazy, spread herself as far out as she could. She even hatched and brooded some wild turkey eggs once, birds were twice her size following her around when they were poults.

Golly - I get a bad multi-day migraine, have a few catch up days at work, and here I am 1500+ posts behind. I'm so bad at keeping up here.

The Monarch butterflies are on the way through on their migration, and they were swarming around the viburnum in front of my house. So fun!

Oh, and I was looking in my butterfly book - you remember that caterpillar that looked like bird poop that I fed to my chickens? It's the larval form of the giant swallowtail.

I'm going to do a read back. BRB.

Was looking through the butterfly book again before bed - I was wrong. Though the Monarchs are indeed on their way through, these aren't Monarchs (for a number of subtle reasons) - they're Queens/Tropic Queens. Still pretty, though. (My CDO compelled me to get up out of bed, wake up the computer, and correct my error.

We don't have the monarchs here. We do get these every once and awhile
Pretty. Tiger swallowtail, I think. We have those too sometimes. (I want to get better at this - I sense a new hobby coming on - Nooooooooooooo........

That's awesome!! (Do I see a lufah in the background of the first pic?)

Good morning all.

I am so glad it's Friday!

My rooster has decided that it's completely acceptable to crow at all hours of the night. Is this normal?!?
