I saved Dax's post on the treatment of cocci, however I have no clue how I will find it when I search it again? where would I look for saved posts? thanks

She was on oral dimethox but I assume the preventative didnt work as well on her as the ND kids. She started off weak as well, I sent her back home an hour after I purchased her at 3 days old, she had a fever and lethargic, she treated her for two weeks then I picked her up again... So I dont think having the injections at such a small age, of antibiotics did her rumen and system much good thereafter. But she pulled through and she gets a oral dimethox every Sunday from here on out, at least for another two months or cold weather. She also has a head tilt, perhaps she did have what yours did!

I don't give injections of dimethox. I just mix up the 12.5% water solution stuff which is about impossible to find right now and I just feed it in their milk until they're weaned. Pollio and listeria exhibit some of the same signs and have some of the same neurological stuff most affecting the brain period circling the stargazing the lack of appetite blindness can all manifest with one or all with either of those conditions. thus you give the massive dose of thiamine and be vitamins and the antibiotic at the same time because while polio reacts quickly to just the thiamine you have to have that and the antibiotic and big doses of it across the brain barrier to stop listeria. you don't have time to find out which one it is because listeria will kill very quickly and long before you can test to find out period many die within the first few hours or 24 hours. be real careful of your feed ratios with her. I bought one that had susceptibility and got polio twice.

@daxigait still no change in the eye, this is the second day of full treatment, she is about to get her shot and gel soon. If no improvement in another day or so I will ask for draxin

I remember noticing the cloudiness and issue but I don't remember the one I had being that pink so maybe I just had another form of eye infection. hopefully she gets over it soon.

Dax, you keep your hay out open in the weather and they actually eat it? Mine wont touch wet hay

they get good hay and alfalfa in the barn, but when they finish their ration they can either scrounge or they can eat that. It is s. lespedeza a natural wormer that is particularly effective against barber pole. I do keep the bales covered though until they start on particular bale. usually they won't eat them until in winter time but I uncovered that one when I was going to go on my backpacking trip just to make sure they had plenty to eat if the person caring for them was not giving them enough.

@Sally Sunshine this is what I use. I mix half a package and a gallon of water and add a tablespoon of time to a gallon of milk and I do that from a few days old. I'm using this as a preventative. I usually get my vet to give me a prescription for my chicken since technically it's not listed for goats period it is incredibly hard to find right now though.
