Wait.... There are places that are paved??
Morning all- heading to work. wasn't thrilled with my Dr apt yesterday. Very depressing. Came home, crashed for 4 hours and then went to see my breeder-she always cheers me up. I was supposed to just go there and get the 5 chicks that hatched and she said not many eggs because of molt. Darn chicken math!!! She said "chicks are like valium!" I came home with a whole bunch of cages and supplies, 5 babies with a beautiful white broody I think she is gonna let me keep, a new very young silkie cockerel that looks extremely good & a girlfriend for him, a dozen breeder/show stock eggs and....... Stan's brother (who I call "Bro") and his beautiful hen who I haven't named yet! (Of course I tossed her some cash which she was reluctant to take but I insisted!) I am so lucky to have people that love and care about me Thank you all for your friendship-I will tell you more about the appointment when I get out of my little funk-Just no surgery as of now-still on heavy restrictions... I pray you get better news soon. Good morning everyone! If you have a local woodworking or carving group they may be able to advise you.I looked at those also, but I don't think it's what I need right now. I don't truly know what I need, guess I'll just have to pick something to try.:
a deck would be fine like you describe. I would maybe though, get a large igloo style dog house and throw it under your deck for them. We use dog houses for our goats. They like that.I have a couple goat questions for the goat folks....
If I get a couple Nigerian dwarf goats, what do you think the estimated feed cost would be per month? Also, could I make the underneath of my covered deck their shelter? It is about 10' x 12' and about 5' off the ground, the underneath is not used right now (except for putting my push mower under it). It would be waterproof from the top, and maybe I could just add some "sides" to it to make it more enclosed for them and leave one section open? Or would I be better off to build them something that is a stand alone structure. The back deck is in the yard I would have them in, so it would be ideal (and cheaper maybe than starting with a new structure).

I would still cover the sides with something. It would give them a place to get out of the wind without having to go in there house. If I did the igloo style dog house (which I already have one of those not in use), could I just leave the sides of the deck open?
As long as it stays dry it would be OK. Wet is very bad for goats.I have a couple goat questions for the goat folks....
