EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

We were lucky the first time we were going to buy our house the mortgage company person I sat down with explained how bad my credit was (all old bills), and how much we would save if we waited got our credit good. Five yrs later the house was for sale again and my credit score was almost 200 points higher.

I'm in that process now. Zero credit but trying to build it. It is a slow process

my husband went into the room and went "huh, that's a lot of ducks." to which I replied "yes, and they have to all survive until spring, or I have to hatch more." and he goes "okay."

Our next batch is "resting" and getting ready to go into the incubator on sunday...

This will be my last hatch of the season.

And the Cleveland Indians win the American League Championship. Next stop World Series against ???
I wouldn't have known had you not mentioned it or I happened to hear it on the radio; I quit paying attention when the Orioles were eliminated. Just waiting for February & Spring Training now.

I got my first car for 800 bucks. My grandpa fixed it up and its still running. This was back in 2003/2004. It was a 1992.

I paid less then 5000 for my 2007 dodge durango a couple years ago, and it runs great. We are in the market for a second truck - but my husband can fix cars too, so he's fine with a truck that has everything he wants.. our suburban would cost more to fix at this point, then buying a new truck would.

:(

We have mostly bought cheap. Right now we are on five yrs with a '01 Suburban paid 5,000 and it's still in great shape, and '00 caravan 1,200 getting pretty rotted, they use a lot of salt on the roads here in the winter.
I just bought a '03 malibu for our oldest for 300, put a back windshield in it and rear suspension on one side myself, only 102,000 miles. Most we looked at that were in nice shape 1,200-15, with 190,000+ miles....
That's another thing here, body and frame rot on older vehicles because of the salt.

Congrats on the new ducklings.

My husband took my paypal credit card.. (okay, he was using it to buy fencing stuff to build me a coop.) but he didn't give it back... yet. :P

None of my birds will be laying until spring for the most part, I want to hatch some EE eggs in the spring, and silkies for people - but I mostly plan on selling/eating the silkie eggs on ebay, or using them for games on here because.. well.. i can? LOL

my cochin has gone broody for 3+ months... so since 90% of my flock is broody wenches.... I pretty much figure I'll go long periods with no eggs.

Our suburban we got for 4500, it had 68k miles on it.

It ran GREAT, it's a 1999.. but finally the AC died, and then one thing after another went down hill from there.... it has now 180k miles on it. We bought it 5 years ago.

It's got newer tires on it, but to replace the engine, it would cost about 3000 to rebuild the engine. Everything that can go wrong in it, has now gone wrong, to get one of the parts, it's like 2200 for a real part, and not a knock off version of it... so when my husband priced out what it would cost to rebuild pretty much everything in it, it was cheaper for him to just buy like a new 1500-3000 dollar truck and fix anything minor in it.
