I know yours are a different breed, just saying that's what it looks like to me. I stared at mine long periods of time not wanting to believe 4 out of 5 chicks were male. They were.
pretty lalo!!

Wow, found this on my fb Home Page. Sally Sunshine has this thread. :)

Morning all- heading to work. wasn't thrilled with my Dr apt yesterday. Very depressing. Came home, crashed for 4 hours and then went to see my breeder-she always cheers me up. I was supposed to just go there and get the 5 chicks that hatched and she said not many eggs because of molt. Darn chicken math!!! She said "chicks are like valium!" I came home with a whole bunch of cages and supplies, 5 babies with a beautiful white broody I think she is gonna let me keep, a new very young silkie cockerel that looks extremely good & a girlfriend for him, a dozen breeder/show stock eggs and....... Stan's brother (who I call "Bro") and his beautiful hen who I haven't named yet! (Of course I tossed her some cash which she was reluctant to take but I insisted!) I am so lucky to have people that love and care about me

As long as it stays dry it would be OK. Wet is very bad for goats.
As to feed, I have full sized goats and they get up to three pounds of grain a day in the winter with some beet pulp, but usually less. Then they may eat a flake a day or a bit more of hay. Plus whatever they eat in the field. Just remember they are browsers not really grass eaters.
Beet Pulp???? @daxigait

Now Mama Silkie has been teaching her chicks all about the outdoors and dust bathing.

What a fun surprise to see my mama and chicks picture on Facebook today :-), It was so helpful to have the article when our chicks were hatching. I was relieved to have somewhere to turn for all these questions. We never planned to hatch out chicks but our broody silkie had other ideas. How did it all turn out, just those two cuties hatched. I was especially glad to have read that I should put an egg that didn't hatch into baggies before trying to find out what went wrong. What went wrong with the final egg led to a big POP, yes the final egg was just a rotten egg, no chick development at all, If I hadn't chipped at it within a double baggie that rotten egg would have gotten everywhere! Thanks so much for the helpful articles and tips. Now we are on to the new adventures of Mama Silkie teaching her chicks about the outdoors and dust bathing and such. What a great experience this is.
awwwww so cute!!! So glad Mama is doing good!! she have a name?

Is that what I need for my intended purpose? I have a feeling I might just have to get it and try.
I'm far from being an expert woodworker, but my thought is that a block plane, which is designed to shave fairly flat surfaces, should not be the "weapon of choice" for tree limbs, assuming you want to retain the irregular contours of the limbs. Not really sure what you should be using instead; maybe a spoke shave or draw knife?
This is so hard for me to explain in my girl words. Ok. I've got a big stack of firewood from where we cleared some brush. I want to make an end table a little like this:

BUT I only want to shave a bit off the top, so there are more stable contact points for a glass top that I'll frame in. I don't want to square the logs in any sort of way. Just shave them a bit (some more than others) so it's flat enough to set glass on top. I think it would be prettier than just setting glass on top.

From what I've read I think I need a plane for the flat edge instead of the curved blade of the spokeshave.
posted this at grannys but never tagged you @campingshaws
sweetness, those top logs you need to split by hand down the middle

you need a small splitting mulb and old timers tool love sometimes called a frow or frau I think

hang on

well I was close enough! lol ......
A froe (or frow) or shake axe is a tool for cleaving wood by splitting it along the grain. It is an L-shaped tool, used by hammering one edge of its blade

I got a pic of my hona cock with the injured eye. It was swollen and I thought it was respiratory, but now it looks like a tear. I can see the "guts" of his eye. He was mid blink in the pic... It's hard to hold a grown rooster with one hand and shove a camera in his face to take a pic.

oh Campin, do you have any eye ointment left from the kids if they had pink eye ??

Snow?
Sometimes, last winter was mild, previous few months of subzero and -20 windchill. Sometimes snow, sometimes blizzards, sometimes not much.

Jeff Foxworthy on Upstate New York:

"You might live in upstate New York if..."

"If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Upstate New York."

"If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights a year because Saranac Lake is the coldest spot in the nation, and Syracuse gets more snow than any other major city in the US, you might live in Upstate NY."

"If your local ice cream stand is closed from October through May, you might live in Upstate New York."

"If you get 131 inches of snow in a week and you comment that 'winter's finally here', you might live near Oswego in Upstate New York."

You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching.

You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.

Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.

You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction.

@kajira
1) common sense - not so common

2) many go to college on student loans which they plan on never paying back

3) I saved up to buy my last car with cash. I was very proud of that. Everyone I knew laughed at me.?.?
or they cant pay so they enroll yet again so push off payments!!!!!
