Okay, so I just found something so disturbing that I'm not gonna repeat it here... Let me say though that if true, the Chinese have sunk to an all new culinary low.

Really? I'm shocked.
Did you know I won't buy shitake mushrooms or honey from China?

The Sierras are nothing to mess with!

Did you know my wife was just astounded yesterday when she heard it snows in California?
How did I end up with someone so geographically challenged?
I guess she only remembers her time in LA and doesn't realize it is a large state.

I don't think I will be the same after seeing those pictures.

-Kathy
Then don't look.

I don't think I can think of anything worse.

Go ahead and spill the beans. If it is true, we all need to know.

There's a lot of great info here! I have some questions if someone is willing to answer them! I have been incubating Pekin duck eggs for 20 days (tomorrow). The parents are ours. 8 mo old. They are developing great! Except the air cell is like a 7 day egg. I have my humidity set at 55, however it stays around 65-69. Is this the problem?

Also, I have added 2 other batches of duck eggs since then. I bought a cheapo tabletop 7 egg incubator strictly for lockdown and hatching. There will be 5 duck eggs going in it later this week. There's a temp control, but no humidity control. How do I fight the humidity battle with no monitor? Any advice? This is my first round of incubating. I have movement in all the eggs. Just the air cell is my concern along with how to safely get them to hatch with the humidity issue.

(I would have made a new post, but I can't figure out how to on the app. So sorry)

Welcome to the thread! I know you have gotten help but lets see if this helps too! Have you been misting them? were they washed? I run dry meaning humidity above 20% for ducks until day 7-10 candle and adjust as needed for weight loss aka air cell growth.... see info in link!

THIS is the BASICS and explains humidity and how to calibrate etc!

Honestly I don't know how to do that. Didn't know that I should! How would I lower it without compromising temp? My incubator doesn't have vents.

Hey Kathy! I have one of the cheapo 56 (I think) egg incubators. China version

Truthfully I don't know! I have it set up in my bedroom. It's the only room I have that I'm sure the kids won't bother the eggs. it's an enclosed garage turned into a room so the temp varies usually from what's on the thermostat but only by a degree or so. We are in NC so we have some harsh humidity in summer but this time of year it usually isn't a problem.

I am sorry they didnt seal it properly that was terrible! I think we would process ourselves.

We sliced by hand. (We do have a slicer though.)
