EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

What kinds of poultry do you have kajira?
I have 14 ducks, 5 turkeys, 8EE flock, 6 or 7 silkies, with more in 2 incubators.
4 large-full sized cochins that i'm not sure of gender, yet.
6 red sex link girls, 1 sex link boy.
1 cochin male roo that's patridge.
3 polish crested hen
1 RIR hen.
3 white/blue cochin hens.
1 black cochin hen
1 small black/mottled cochin that my white hen laid with my cochin male. His or her name is Star.

Basically, I have like 30 chickens, give or take a few. 14 ducks, 5 turkeys. LOL

I also have goats.

Is anyone Else having problems with egg production? I have over 25 chickens, and I'm only getting 0-2 eggs a day. I Feed them regularly and I always make sure that they have good water and a clean living condition. Is there something else that I should be doing that will make their egg production rise?

I'm only getting 1 per day right now. LOL My RIR is my only faithful layer. My cochin has been broody on and off for like 4 months and has only laid 1 egg randomly in the last 4 months. haha

They eat fine. Sometimes it just takes them a while to start laying, especially if daylight hours are short, or they recently molted.

not to mention that it actually can dry their skin out and give them sores. I learned this the hard way after one of my roosters rolled in DE that I had used on an ant hill....................  :hmm
we have no trouble and yes it does it actually dry the mites and lices shells and kills them.we cant bring it back after tearing open the bag and using it

DE = diatomaceous earth, and it won't kill mites or lice. IMNSHO, it's a huge waste of money! Go back to the store, return what's left of the DE, and get some permethrin powder for the birds.
