EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I moved birds around this last weekend. I now have someone smashing eggs. Is there a good way besides pulling them one at a time to find the culprit? I can watch some this weekend.

Just have to get the silicone and then let that set then fill and see if it leeks

There's a leek in the boat!!

:hugs   Hi whites!

thats cool!  @BantyChooks
recipes :highfive:

Got it!

Sweet and big bummer too!! sorry to heart that

oh sweets, I fill mine and lockdown and it lasts?  why dont yours?

No idea- 'member how many bowls & stuffs I had in there to get humidity up? They all have to be filled once per day cause they go dry, even when I am NOT opening the bator at all. :he

I closed of 1/2 of total vents, but it didnt help and it just got that stinky, metallic smell that I'm hoping bator upgrades will help... No more eggs sitting in wet muck!

It's a long road to kink free incubating, but that's what I get for MacGyvering a bator out of questionable parts and a whole lotta duck tape...

@Sally Sunshine
Night yall im beat

Night :hugs
It is supposed to drop to 37° tonight. At what temperature should I shut the windows that align with the roost?

I don't plastic over any windows, even ones that blow on the birds, till it gets into the 20s, or is supposed to.

Even then I'll peel it up in the day until it stops going above the 30s in daytime.

Chooks are very hardy!

raining good here also, dogs wouldnt go out

It poured here the past few days including overnight, Three of my five coops are tractors with tarps over them - and the tarps are not holding up (and they used to - quality going down?). I just sucked it up and ordered some heavy duty UV traps over the internet to get the chickens thorough the winter dry.

Quote: I worked 7 days a week throughout college and residency. I needed to in college, but in residency I could probably have gotten by without it - but it was such an ingrained habit to work... I had a part time job at a health food store - I never ended up bringing home a paycheck, I always worked for my groceries. I was VERY good at straightening items in the herbal aisle...

Nope. Trying ice cream from tub now.
