EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

what are u talking about
You said you were going to grow leeks in the tank. They should be outside in the garden.

I think there is a problem with the tank
The first problem was buying a tank with a leak.

I gave my son a tank that had one cracked pane of glass I told him how to repair. He brought it back to me and bought a new one.

Had anyone used the pelletized bedding for their goats? Have I already asked that?

i dont have goats BUT with the pelletized bedding you are supposed to wet it down to let it expand then lay it down

very strange

Does it then dry out to become absorbent? I can't figure out what to do in there. Shavings are a huge mess, but they are absorbent. Hay is fine, but gets dirty too fast. If I keep piling it up, then there's "sludge" underneath. I hate the sludge. :(

good morning mel!:frow

Morning Sophie! :hugs I went through the coop today to see what I have breeding combos of. I have lavender orps, phoenix, swedish flower, salmon favorelles, porcelain d'uccles, super blue egg layers, silkies and polish. I also have a barred rock bantam pair. start thinking and give me an idea of what you might want when they start laying or we can start looking at hatching eggs. also when do you want them? we may have to do hatching eggs if you want them soon as I am not sure when mine will lay-most are only 4-5 months old. but now that I am off we can figure something out, I'm sure.

Ok so first good news...my parents said yes (!) but it comes with a minor detail...since we live kinda far apart from each other (like, 3 1/2 hours) my mom doesn't want to drive that far for chickens she said and she doesn't want you to do the hassle of driving over here either but she did say that maybe if we met halfway then she would be a little more agreeable for the diving portion. Second she said that you could ship them in the mail but I was a little wary of that part only because I've never had any live thing come in the mail before and also how many days can a chick go without food or water ect.? Third I think I am leaning more towards some lavender orps, silkies, and possibly some porcelain d'uccles and Swedish flowers but I have to do a little more research on those last two...okay back up a minute, we are going to get some chicks from the farm store around...oh...first week of March? But I do maybe want to try to hatch some if you have time around February/March
