I thought you were talking about goats in their sheds.Do you have flooring or is the limestone the ground? The coop is about 8 inches off the ground. The flooring is plywood.
In my main coop I put down a vinyl floor and use shavings on the main floor, and sand/pdz for the poop board. I also put vinyl on the floor of my smaller coop that is raised, and I use shavings, and just take it all out the back onto a tarp and replace the shavings after putting some DE on the corners and along the edge.

Hi and WELCOME!!!!Hey I need some help I got some California whites for my science project and I got 5 and it's day 6 and only one is showing a baby in it and idk what to do the other white egg is shaped funny and a little bit of a different color and I'm a bit scared it is not even a white so should I wait a bit longer I have read if the egg goes bad it can explode o.o -Sophia

hmmmm ???I just don't know about this.......?????????
that one but a crop?
sweet!!Apparently, I have a bird trying to hatch today. a day late. lol
how is she hatching with yolk? did you assist? only time I have seen that is assists too early and when the umbilical is from another area or wrapped around feet or something.. only thing you can do is let her try to absorb what she can and dry it out then. keep her clean. are you sure its not that yellow jello stuff from high humidity? My little egg that's trying to hatch, pipped upside down, has managed to get half-way zipped and then egg yolk started to come out. Survival rates low after that??? or what are the odds it can live?
if it doesnt stink let it in a bit yet, only pull day 10 good luck!So it may be worth a shot for you, and I am not clear on your temps or calibration, Hammond found that a bit higher incubation temps increase chick initial body weight believe it or not, at the higher temp 99.9 the higher the rate of egg water loss in the first 16 days of incubation. What I have found is when I incubate at a slightly elevated temp 100.5 calibrated I have much cleaner hatches. They found that its the opposite with low temps, body weight of chicks were less. Then you get into the additional factors of adding low high temps with humidity and ventilation.... Best we can do is work these areas to achieve absolute and relative weights. IN KNOWING THAT and then factor in that EACH EGG & breeds are different in age, air cell size, genetics etc.
I run at 100.5 calibrated spot on temps, rotating eggs n the bator often.
Researchers have found that lowering temperatures will prolong incubation,
HOWEVER it is favorable to do so at the end of incubation.
Day 19 & 20 Temp Min 98.0 Max 98.5
Day 21 Temp Min 97 Max 98.0

The Cuticle removal in hatching eggs as a means to reduce weight loss: Has actually been found to increase embryo weight during incubation and has direct relationship between rate of egg water loss, embryonic metabolism, and growth during incubation. But that warning of contamination is there if you dont follow cleaning procedures correctly. Chlorine treated eggs were not altered either. So with all that it is found that cuticle removal can be an effective method for increasing growth and egg weight loss.
