I also never herd of someone that did it, but If you will give the hen LH ( the same hormon that synthetic derivatives of it found in birth control pills ) you will trigger a negativ feedback loop that will reduce the secretion of the LH- GnRH from the hippothalamus and that will stop the reproductive system. In briff take one of your rubbish hen give it 1/8 of a birth control pill daily and see what happens!

Thanks for the input but I don't think I'll do that. I'll leave that up to the researchers.
Light therapy works for me just fine.
They tested growth hormones for poultry back in the '40s and it wasn't cost effective nor did it work very well. It couldn't be put in feed so each bird had to be injected which created a huge labor cost.

I'd best go get something accomplished. First thing I know, it'll be dark & I'll have done nothing but hang on here all day....happened before...more than once.
it rained on my parade ughhh

Well guys..... 34 years ago today.... I was wearing an OZZY concert jersey and my wife a tie dye maternity top... We got hitched in front of a probate judge.
I was 18 at the time..... Chris was 15
It was against the judges best judgement and everyone have us a year. But here we are... Three kids and several grand kids later
awwww Happy anniversary!

It didn't rain on my parade; just sprinkled for a while. Had to run around from drop to drop just to get wet.
Now that I'm all caught up in both houses, I'm going to see if I can ruin some deer's day.
I should go back to work, but I don't wanna, and you taught me to do whut I want.

I may be tempted to violate my own rule against ever incubating pullet eggs.
The birds have been laying a little over a week and started at 27 weeks. Their eggs have been darn big for pullet eggs.
They've all been between 60 and 70 grams. I guess that's the advantage of delaying onset of lay.
Usually they start out around 50 grams and sometimes less.
