Happy Thanksgiving to all! I hope everyone enjoyed their day of thanks, and filled their bellies to the brim!!!
I haven't been around, in case anyone noticed, so I thought I'd drop in to say howdy. HOWDY!
I've been staying busy with my RIR's, and it seems like there's something new to do every day. Not long ago I picked up a trio of top-notch reds, so I was already thankful for that. Just today, two of my pullets decided to start laying. Yet another thing to be thankful of! I figured I'd have to induce laying with artificial lighting around the end of January so they'd be ready to start the breeding process in early February. Looks like they don't care about the days getting shorter after all... lol! As of right now, I'm only focusing on breeding the new trio, but I've brought one of the original pullets over to the trio pen because she has a better tail angle. She has a little excess black, but I'm going to use her anyway. Who knows... I might get lucky and they'll throw some beautiful chicks. Time will tell.
It's been awhile, so here's a video of my birds as they are now. The video starts in the pen with my original birds, and ends in the pen with the new trio (now a quad)...
