Couldn't help it....
Agree with the top quote. I was messsing with a grammar checker for fun, and it "dinged" me because the words I used were above 5th grade reading level. I couldn't believe my eyes....

Thank you very much. I've got quite a bit to tinker with before my next hatch now....
Oopsies, guess I missed by a bit.

I know what you mean- My roo had the exact thing happen when it went down to -30. He lost nearly all of his wattle on one side, and completely on the other side.

Looked pretty bad, but I just kept him in the house till the dead part shriveled up....
I'll try to find the links to some of the metal heat elements I use.

I don't remember the version of MS Word I was using but it had a lot of toys in it. You could assess an essay for grammar usage and it would give a grade score and point out words many people might not know.

...
I don't think that's the best idea Akrnaf2 has come up with.

Well, this makes me feel terrible. I read the section on temps in still air under incubation thread, and it said to keep temps at 102 in still air. I thought that it was a bit high so I got to 101.3 for the most part. Even still I had 4 viable eggs at day 18. Actually I had 4 viable eggs until yesterday. I also followed what the thread said and kept my temp at 98.5 for the last 3 days, I was using 3 different thermometers. I found my probe thermometer to be most accurate and right near the eggs, at embryo level. All 4 were moving around yesterday, 2 were early today, and now nothing. I'm not sure if they are resting, or dead now!

It isn't necessarily something you did.
Late deaths are sometimes a breeder nutrition issue.

May I please have a white German Shepherd? Oh! And a black kitten!!

White German Shepherds are pretty cool.
My son has a black cat - Leia.

I n
I now have temp at 99.5 egg level, using my probe thermometer.

Top of the egg is supposed to be at 100.5. If you are measuring at the middle of the egg, 99.5 is good.

@Sally Sunshine

Can you remind me - you run your 'bator a bit hot, right? Like, 100.5F?

Meanwhile, Puppy got out this morning - AGAIN. I couldn't find an outdoor nest (though I bet there's one somewhere) - I wish I could, I'd set all those eggs right now. I worry that she'll do this when I'm out of town, it's hard enough for me to catch her, the chicken sitter will have a bear of a time.

I run mine CALIBRATED at 100.5 ALWAYS but I have no flux

oh no!! you need a puppy to help find her!!!
That's what I thought. (What do you mean by flux?)

Yup - Brinsea is off, I have a calibrated thermometer/hygrometer in it. Currently running 100.3F (set at 101.7) and 30% (set at 36%). (In case any of the newbies reading thought you could get away with not calibrating because you bought your incubator and they told you it was accurate.)

thought I would catch a break, rolled one of the eggs over because I thought I heard another chirp, I got another egg pipping! I'm running to go grab a bite to eat, will post some photos later, and maybe a nap, a nap would be nice right now!
Get a nap! The best thing you can do is resist the urge to open the 'bator or help them. And it's SUPER fun to go to sleep and then wake up to an incubator full of chicks!!!!

Benny, my man, you need to change your avatar. After the selfie in your interview, the current one certainly does you no justice. Very nice interview it was, too
Thank you my long distance friend But character like, CC, You, and if I may say, me are more kind of the solid ones, I was watching we were the only 3 that didn't change their Avatar pic. (Except you that you once change yours, basically to the same one! :lau) that says something. .....
