EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

40* rain and snow upper regions for weekend.

Just learned I have relatives living in Placerville they have horses and do the Pony Express every year. I'm invited to see their place. They live walking distance from Jack Russel Brewery.
That's pretty neat that they do that. Walking distance, that's almost to easy :D

Morning MC! Thanks for the cocoa! The machine at Sheetz was broken this morning :(

No evidence of my freeloading rat overnight, so I sprayed ether into the original hole on the opposite side of the run. If he comes back out of the same hole he's currently using I'll dose that one with ether, too. Because it would be a PITA to carry boiling water out there, 'specially if I tripped, I'll wait to see what happens with just the ether. Chickens shut out for the day, but I forgot to set the water pan outside the run; guess I should go correct that. Time will tell.

Quote:. Yeah, there are SOOOOOO many brown egg color genes - crosses can be so unpredictable. Marans are hard for breeders because of the need to work toward SOP for the bird PLUS select for dark eggs (if you want to do it right). I just have mine as layers - no plans to breed them to any extent (except perhaps an offspring or two, including olive eggers).
