EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I heard a peep!!

Grats! You lucky Dog you... Good luck~!

I just moved mine to the hatcher... A very sad hatch coming up Tuesday.

8 toads
5 Doms
2 Speckled Sussex
I Legbar

The rest are chicken feed. I started with about 5 dozen eggs and this is the results. However it is not all that surprising the first hatch of the year are always bad for me. I think the roosters are not fertile or doing their jobs.

Ed my Partridge Chanticler Rooster from last year is going to the bull Pen and Ed Son "Wienerhead" is taking over the duties. They have both been on Artificial light for 6 weeks or more now. Not one of Ed's eggs were aby good!

:D

Wow.

Where are you located? Up here between the cold, frozen eggs and artificial lights the hatches are pathetic for another 8 weeks.

I notice if I get a warm day the egg production jumps. the last few days in the cold it is terrible. but it never justifies putting heat on them. The only bird I have heat on is Cuddles my Speckled Sussex Show rooster. I am hoping to save his comb, but it looks like one point is touched now

I have probably spent 200 bucks trying to save his comb. I would have made him a house rooster but the WWD was not even a little receptive to that idea.

Try hatching seramas... 25% have the lethal gene plus anything else that happens... It's ok-it's God's way of taking care of culls for me since the lethal gene=creeper leg

I'm in lower AL. It's been in the 70s for months until Friday.

My egg production stinks, whether it's warm or not, 4 eggs from 22 hens.

That stinks. :hugs
