A.) They'd sit at the end of the brooder screeching for me all night and freeze, and B.) Their brooder is on my bedside table.

Move the brooder and if they freeze it is Darwin's law in action....

Maybe you should change to light, it will less their stress,

How will it do that? Heating pad is supposed to give em a more natural sleep cycle- It worked fine for all other batches, these guys just think I'm momma.

Archery's in 'til the end of January, but I haven't been out. They seldom come in if there's no corn in the feeder. Feeder was on the DL, thanks to the squirrels, 'til last week, & I haven't bought any more corn yet. Been too blasted cold lately to be skinning deer out in the open, anyway.

Excellent advice from two upstanding citizens. Having a brooder in your bedroom is a terrible idea on all accounts.

I raised ALL MY chicks successfully under light bulb , they sleep tremendously good unde it! No problem AT ALL!
And l think, that YOU think, that you are their mom......

How did you get a Thermometer into the rat's ask to take the temp? They always bite when I try to take it.

They just stay there for the first week, and when they start stinking, they go downstairs.
