I don't know if this has been asked on here yet, too much to read through! But I searched and can't find anything on it...The question I have is, has anyone tried to use a space heater fan/heating element set up in their homemade incubator? It's one of those metal heaters you get from Walmart for $17, the fan blows past heated springs. My husband said the thermostat is shot on it, but he thinks he can make it work with a wafer thermostat (the one Sally Sunshine suggested using). I am making an incubator from a wooden box I have completely lined with 2" styrofoam. We will put the fan beside the egg shelf, so the fan will blow towards the front and the air will circulate past the heated springs, over the eggs and back around to the back before going back in the fan.

What do you all think? Please help, cannot find anyone using anything but light bulbs! Though I certainly have not ruled that out, and don't have a problem with it, but the heater is free.

My brother in law wanted to try something like that. There was a guy on YouTube that used heating blocks or something like that instead of lights.

Well now I know what I'm going to be hatching in my incubator when the time comes. Now I'm starting a hunt for hatching eggs that are within driving distance.
