I also had them in a 150x150 ft pen. The other birds will kick the poop out of them if they get together. I forced them to forage in the pen only feeding them in evening

That's cause they are usually fat and lazy. I've got a big cockerel I'd like to either put over Toads or maybe over CXs to get a Toad wannabe.

I think I started with 7 or 8 hens and 4-5 males...you have to starve them to keep them alive

Do you have to do the same thing with the toads or are they pretty self regulating with the feed?

I kind of watch their feed, but not once they are full size. They will leave extra feed in feeder over night. CXs never leave a drop of feed.


I do not think toads will eat themselves to death.

I have thought about bringing my partridge Chanticler into the mix to bring in the cushion comb and get rid of the single comb and frostbite
