I just discovered that my 3 OEGB pullets and 1 OEGB cockerel are now 2 OEGB pullets and 2 OEGB cockerels.

Well now I know what I'm going to be hatching in my incubator when the time comes. Now I'm starting a hunt for hatching eggs that are within driving distance.

Thanks, but on the bright side.....I get to hatch BANTAMS! YAY!

nothing? you do a quick candle and throw in a hot damp rag to keep humidity up while you do so? I seen the first pip was a little high how were the other two? high pip typical means too high humidiy

I got a food dehydrater, and I was looking at recipes... duck and chicken jerky!!! Easy to store, and I KNOW my kids will eat it. Plus it travels well. If I can convince my husband that chicken jerky should be a thing around here, maybe I can convince him to help me cull birds if I can figure out how to make it.

Just to give everyone a laugh for the morning at my expense.
My complaint about this snow/ice mixture of junk we got over the weekend has been the fact that North Carolinians don't know how to handle it. Well turns out neither does a boy from north Alabama. Was cleaning the shed last night and had some empty feed sacks that I for some reason decided to put outside the door. Decided it was time to go in for the night after dark, forgot about the feed bags directly in front of the door. I was dancing for what seemed like forever before finally catching one knee and the opposite hand on the frozen ground. Turns out a plastic feed sack on a sheet of semi-frozen ice is slicker than green duck chit on a frozen pond. Its all good though, everything seems fine this morning. Lesson learned, feed sacks don't go in front of the shed door.

OMG, I bet you were WIDE awake after that!!!

Day 20 today - I'm about 12 hours behind Dan, set time-wise. I woke up to two pips!!!!

MHP is warming up, brooder is ready, water is measured and ready to be mixed with the Pro-Vit stuff (trying it this time, Sally), gotta get to work. Hope to come home to more pips! (Or maybe even a zip!)
