Sally they're 11 weeks old. Do muscovy tails curl? None are, but that black is def a male and there's one other for sure.

Campin I always went off lifting them up and listening to them way before curls anyways, just curious bout tail curl
I guess I needed to be patient! He is around 20-25 pounds. I have showed this picture a lot to show just how big my toads are:How big is the beast?!?!???
It is the best way for me to show it. The bird on the left is a turkey (heritage) at 11lbs and 1 ounce. The one on the right is Bert's son at 15 lbs 4 ounces. Both are dressed with no giblets inside them. When we piece these my wife and I get 5 meals out of them. We like to roast them because of the juice it retains when roasted. A drumstick or thigh is a full meal. The breast are 4 servings for us. 2 on each half.
Whst is he?
He is a toad, my own "breed". I wanted a bird with longevity and more health than a CX. I also wanted larger legs and thighs. So I mixed breeds and birds from those breeds and crosses to get these.
I thought it was a dead end last spring the. Like magic I got 12 of these to hatch. They lay huge eggs and are good layers too. A very mellow active bird. The egg that is hatching was 3.1 ounces nearly the size of a turkey egg.
It is better than naked b..t!I am not sure. I have to think hard about this...... A toad has a certain amount of pride, it is hard for a chicken to have any pride or self esteem with a naked neck....Dan, so happy for you!!!! It's making me so antsy - I'm 12 hours behind you, and expecting pips any time now!!!!
I always seem to set too early or too late for any of the HALs...
Did you know that there is REALLY a food supplement now called Soylent?! I hear ads for it during some of my podcasts. Are they SERIOUS?! https://www.soylent.com
That's Bert?! I love Bert - I remember him from our CX thread that I used to follow. I'm SO SO pleased that your toad project is going so well - I know how much hard work went into it - good for you!!!!!
Wow!!!!! (I think chicken tastes better than turkey myself - I'd buy one of those for Thanksgiving in a red hot minute!) (Wondering if Ralph would send me hatching eggs... So I could make Naked Neck toads....

Should be pure. You don't think so? They're all still peeping. I know because I had to catch them so many times yesterday. They wouldn't go in the pond so I grabbed a few and lobbed them in. It was more fun than I'll admit.

OMG, don't tempt me!!! I already have SOOOOOOO many more chickens than I should! I just came back in after looking at my freezer and deciding I need to eat a lot more chicken to make room for all the culls I'll have to have this year
Us too. We have about 10 years worth of chicken in th freezer... I am so glad God made vacuum packers so the meat lasts forever.....we may never need chicken, sauerkraut or broccoli for the rest of this life and half of the next......
Can I interest anyone in10 gallons of sauerkraut ?
