EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Forced air. Uncalibrated digital Accurite thermometer/hydro combination sensor* at 100 with incubator thermostat set to 99.8. I wrap the sides of the incubator, so the air vent on top isn't covered.

*I'm using one of those fancy indoor outdoor weather stations for my thermometer. I just stuck the outdoor sensor inside the incubator. I was nervous about trying to calibrate the thermometer since it's got built in bluetooth signal stuff all wrapped up in there. The Accurite brand sensor and the thermostat on the bator were perfectly synced on trial runs. They could be spit on or happen to be off by exactly the same amount.

I use one of those too. It was never calibrated but through trial and error, I have excellent hatches by keeping it at 100° ;)

Quote: No way!!! I wont even sell dogs to be outside dogs. I need to have them with me, I am always playing with them and holding them its what makes my pups so much more people like and everyone loves them, we have several pup owners who now have two three and four of our pups grown out. I am proud to rraise them the way I do. I weigh them twice a day the first week and then once a day there till four and then weekly,

I also use the U.S. Military Super dog program! ( In an effort to improve the performance of dogs used for military purposes, a program called "Bio Sensor" was developed. Later, it became known to the public as the "Super Dog" Program. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation exercises could have important and lasting effects.)

And teach them simple manners no biting and so much more. no way they going outside unless its heated area and a living area for me to be with thme. which I will add is in my dream kennel

whut???
Nothing. I simply offered what I'd do, based on 40 years experience. Our philosophies on raising dogs are obviously different, and I've no problem with that. To each their own.
yes and I explained mine back to you lol, I was not offended at all, you should know me better than that. I raise pets in general, and some take hunting but they are still house pets. I do my best to make a good inside companion for families.

According to a local vet (and BYCers) the lower half of her web is dead, most likely from frostbite. Can't afford amputation so hoping it will fall off by itself without infection setting in.

She somehow managed to flap out of the sink (sides are head high to her when standing) whilst having a bath and crash land on the floor... The good web is fine, but I am worried about her thigh on the frostbit one. It's warmer now & something just doesn't feel right...

I just want a healthy flock for once.

On the positive side, little Torvi has not pasted again.

Imma send her crying in pain I guess???? I give up with kids. I just am at loss with her at this point.
Did you check if she developed a gluten sensitivity? AKA Celiac?
all the ER did was take simple lab work. and said if she gets a high fever and vomiting bring her back

On the misbehaving poultry front...

I finally got fed up with Puppy - clipped her wing tonight (all the flight feathers on one side except those first two, for looks - will cut those too if it doesn't work). We'll see if it stops her - she's been escaping out of her paddock REGULARLY for, like, her entire adult life. I like her a lot, don't want her to end up dead over it. So, clip clip. Their roosts are high, but there are several step-jumps, so I think she'll be able to make it.

I finally realized today (on round up #2, right before bedtime) that if I had a regular routine for catching her, complete with new obstacles in the yard placed there just for that reason, it was time to act.

She's apparently also taught Polly (the hatchery New Hampshire) to get out from the 6 ft fence as well. We'll see if she does again.
