Guys, I have a serious question. :p ;) Do I want to set my duck eggs so that they hatch the day before Valentine's Day (the 13th) or do I want to set so that they hatch on Valentine's Day(the 14th)?

Why would that matter? Set for the day Khosrau II was crowned King of Persia for all it matters.

Quote: Well, I just watched her jump a totally vertical 4 feet from a stand still on the coop floor to one of the roosts. I'm beginning to wonder if a ball and chain might be a better option...

Remind me what breed (or cross) these are again? (Some look like Cream Legbar pullets, but I think they can sometimes look like other chicks...) They're lovely! I love watching babies feather out...

Depends on whether there's a HAL and you want to be hatching at the same time as some other folks or not.

:lau I'll probably set for Valentine's Day, that'll be a Tuesday and I'll be more likely to be home to watch for early hatchers.

Chrissy web update:

According to a local vet (and BYCers) the lower half of her web is dead, most likely from frostbite. Can't afford amputation so hoping it will fall off by itself without infection setting in.

She somehow managed to flap out of the sink (sides are head high to her when standing) whilst having a bath and crash land on the floor... The good web is fine, but I am worried about her thigh on the frostbit one. It's warmer now & something just doesn't feel right...

I just want a healthy flock for once.

On the positive side, little Torvi has not pasted again.

So sorry to hear :hugs
