I posted this on the turkey thread but I know most of you do not go there.


I have my old Tom, JJ. He is the rusty Slate in the video. He is my bodyguard/Secret Service agent. The Royal Palms are you Toms that want to hit me from behind and challenge me all the time.

Watch JJ come in between the Royal Palms and myself and run their butts away from me. JJ does this all day long he follows me and "protects" me from these young guys.

Does he also fend off WWD?

Mine sleep in the coop with my chickens, except for the PITA's that I have to force into the coop every night. I need to start removing head and filling the freezer, I just have a hard time deciding who should get on the camp bus.

JJ will never get on the bus, he is my lap Tom.

I spoil my Tom - he's not a fan of hugs, but he follows me everywhere. Both my slates do. My bourbon reds are more skittish. They come close for food, then leave. LOL

My red sexlinked chicks have warned up to me. I barely handled them, but now they let us pick them up and give them cuddles. my EE females like their hugs... all my roosters are slightly stand-offish, except my Silkie Rooster. He's my buddy... for now. Puberty may change it, all my roosters loved me, until puberty kicked in and then they went a little anti-social with people.

I have several birds that like their hugs. JJ is one of them, I normally have him sit next to me or I stand and hold him in my arms. He is just too big to have in my lap. He loves his pets and cuddle time.

Most of my colored Legbars will tolerate being held.

I have one young turkey hen that is in lapper training.. hopefully she will learn to like it,,

and a few show birds that like to be spoiled too,
