Your going to get me in trouble Sally.
who ME???? COULDNT BE

By knowing only one person is going to do it. :D
And since they aren't doing laundry, they don't care how many clothes they go through in a day.
But I may "need" them for something I just don't know why yet.
Need? Like for opening an Asian restaurant? Black meat birds at the grocery store.
I think I would rather have lavender or Jubilee Orpingtons anyway.
I wanted AC for a long time but I'd rather have Quetros from the reed islands in Lake Titicaca of the Peru mountains.
Is this you?
I am just gonna set them and hope for the best.whatever

What is the source of your frustration and why are you hoping for the best? Did your thermometer come today?
Sally, my brother, brother in law and I did some figuring the other day and it only costs about a dollar a month to run my bator.
Are you using wood heat for your incubator that it only costs $1 a month? Are did you put have a problem with decimal places? The only way it would cost $1 is if it is in a very warm room and is running on 40W.
Lockdown tonight or tomorrow, depends if there's drawdown or not.... Imma go insane if I have to leave them, I sure hope they hatch before I gotta go!!
I have 15 eggs I put in pedigree bags this morning. I hear them peeping. They are due in 17 hours and I just went in to turn the eggs that are due next week.
So, sounds like a good time for a stupid question. Anyone have any data on heat output of a regular incandescent bulb compared to a heat lamp? Example, I did a test run on the huge display fridge. A 250 heat lamp gave me a consistent temp of 97*. I know I need a bit more but am curious if a heat lamp is the way to go or what it would compare to for regular bulb or actually bulbs since I would prefer more than 1. Note--this was a very basic mock up with a heat lamp laying in the bottom and the thermo out of direct line sight. no fans and nothing fancy just trying to get an idea of what I would be looking at wattage wise
That's what I suspected based on the infrared info I had found. I was just trying to get an idea and that was the highest wattage bulb I had available. rough dimensions of the fridge are 5'X4'X2' so yeah it's pretty good size. I will measure more accurately when I get home.
My cabinet is huge and I need high wattage. I have this 125 watt for the inner cabinet but it is supplemented with 60 watts at the bottom. The inner cabinet is inside a larger hatcher cabinet that has a 250W and a 125W heat element.
What's the problem?
Do you know anyone with Orpingtons in those flavors?
Lots of them here. http://agriculture.mo.gov/animals/pdf/poultry_yearbook.pdf
I would try black chicken but not what I was thinking. Thanks for the source I may have to look into it.

I tried making a dust bath for my chickens but they were too picky to use mine.
I have been watching my laziest hen, she lets another hen make a nice big spot as a good dust bath and then the lazy hen goes over and bullies the other one out of the dust bath and uses it for herself. She does this all day, let's the others do the work and then chases them out of the dust bath. Funny to watch.
I don't have them and neither does my brother.
My daughter wants us to hatch them for the school hatch in March, or some with feathered feet. I'm trying to decide who I can buy eggs from on my trip to Pennsylvania in March!
