Cover it with a pice of gardening irrigation tube.
not sure how i'd do that, but maybe

Back now... No pips. Going to candle. Honestly, I'm not hopeful at all. Guess I'll get Chrissy friends when the local hatchery starts selling lings in spring

Incubation? 35%ish. I do think I should have sponged them for the last half week.

They all look like they died at about day 25, cept for one that started drawing down before it went kaput.

Haven't you had late deaths before? I'm trying to remember what ChickenCanoe said about causes for that, but my mind is a blank.

Back from buying a load of lumber (need to start sanding and sealing for the coop and tractor builds). At this point I'll need enough that I'm not even counting at first, just getting as many 8ft. studs as will fit in my truck each time... Then I changed out the cloth diapers on top of the MHPs in both brooders, and refreshed the bedding. I've been really dragging all day, I tell ya' - it's like I could sleep for weeks!!!! But I'm now heading out to do the chores for the grown up chickens. I've got coop cleaning and waterer scrubbing to do, then feeders to be refilled. Those are usually Sunday chores, but I'm going to try to get a start on them today.

Hi everyone! Still not sure, the current plan is if I don't begin bleeding by next Tuesday it'll have officially been two weeks and I'll do a blood test. Fingers crossed!

Chickens didn't happen today, Husband had digestion problems and so tomorrow morning (before he goes to work) we'll pick up the hens and the roo. He's SUCH a pretty roo, I love him.

I often get quite a high percentage to lockdown, then there's a dieoff. I have looked and looked and reviewed lockdown procedures many times, but I can't find anything.
