Bad morning here. About two hours after I got to work this morning, my dad called to tell me that he thought my dog was out killing a chicken. I rushed home as fast as I could (normally 30-35 minute drive, but I think I made it in 25), it was like a massacre scene. She killed almost my entire flock. I found 9 dead, 4 alive and uninjured, and 6 I couldn't find at all. I don't know if those 6 are dead and just under the house where I can't see, or if by some chance they are alive and hiding somewhere. What an awful morning. My daughter is going to be SO upset.

So sorry to hear that! I know how you feel, I just had to send a dog to the shelter for doing the same thing. She actually HID the chickens and ate them the next day. So sorry!

The incubator dropped last night, to 52 degrees, killed every last one of the pipped eggs

This made me so sad until I finished the read back - so glad they seem to be ok. Keep us posted!!!!

When I was out of town, the person caring for chickens and dog dropped the ball on the incubator and chicks.
She didn't get the lid back on squarely and it was 94F the last 5 days of incubation and some hatched a couple days late. I was going to clear it out yesterday but I still heard peeping. Couldn't tell which egg it was coming from. I'll float test this morning.

Morning everyone Friday was long time coming this week. Supposed to stop raining tomorrow. 4&3/4 inches since Monday. The spillway too one of the largest dams in the area about an hours drive North of here has damage. They won't use it till fixed. The natural spill way will probably get tested this weekend it has never been full enough to be tested. Could get interesting.

Oh my!!!

Dodged a bullet last night. Fell asleep on the couch and neglected to close the run up. I never close the pop door on the coop and just keep the run secured. Made it out this morning before anyone came off the roost and appeared all were well and secure. Closed the run up and started my day. Pretty sure something was around last night due to the fact the resident but wild geese were in the pond going crazy around 3:30 when the wife woke me up to make bottles. Didn't even think about the chickens just heard the geese.

Wow - so glad all was ok. I had a night like that, forgot to close the doors to the coops. Remembered at about 9:30PM, and found a family of young raccoons eating out of the feeder in my cockerels' bachelor pen. Fortunately, there's no ramp, so no one had gone up to their roosting level. Almost scared me to death...

More babies last night and this morning. A couple more does are in labor right now. No pics yet except for this one of Brit warming a little doeling in the truck. (We lost her brother as a stillborn). Mom still is pushing 1 more.

And another fresh momma. She just now dropped a 2nd one as I'm typing.

OMG, I'm so, so sorry. I decided to wait to get chickens until my old dog had passed away - she was a greyhound, and while she was sweet, you can bet this would have happened with her...

Benny look! I had lamb for supper, and rosemary garlic mashed potatoes. And Parmesan truffle fries! Lamb was medium rare. Took me forever to figure out how to get to the meat. :/

From my point of view it seem like a very good meal!

Every time I tried to cut I was either hitting bone or like a tendon? I was just sawing away in the fancy restaurant and not getting anywhere. DH grabbed a couple and mangled them like a caveman. we shouldn't be allowed in fancy places.

Here we call them the " queen guard " and they are fantastic! And the best way to eat them is like a cave man!
I prepared touday Beef Wellington with 2 kg beef sirlion with mushrooms Doxell and smoked goose brest! DELICIOUS!

I love it's bill it's so cool looking. And it's feet they're black till about half way down and then they're mostly orange.

So you happy?? You got my hopes up the little wasters of good oxygen were dead and now you have them out walking and polluting??? Grats on the hatch..I guess...
