EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I am OK. I have had two miscarriages and a death unrelated to the miscarriages this last week, but hopefully that's it. I have several does due the next two weeks, chicks Saturday and I am driving the bus for the ladies retreat this weekend.

question is HOW are you?

A little depressed at all the cool babies being hatched on this thread. It seems with the homestead everything is two steps forward, one step back. One of my goats came up coughing this morning. I'm not sure if it's something else, or the extreme weather shifts, their barn isn't exactly what I call weather proof, but our lows are about 30 degrees for exactly 1 week a year, I didn't think much of it. They're making good progress getting the front pasture down and creating some natural compost for the future food forest I have planned. I checked and due dates are end of April, which seems both too far and not far enough away at the same time. Our first cuttings of this property are all rooted and growing leaves. I need to plant them out, but I need to move the goats first, and that means finishing the fence line, which I cannot do by myself. The Seramas all look nice, I'm considering taking the lights off them. They're all fully feathered, but they're outside and you never know with overnight temps. I've got an entire 30x4 ft garden dug and filled with compost, I just need to get topsoil for that, but we don't have a truck currently, and don't have money for it. I finally, finally, finally, have furniture! We inherited a leather couch set from Jes' mom, and a bed, table, tv stand, and hutch from Jes' grandma. And it's been about two weeks since we got our appliances, though it appears the washer isn't working properly, such is the life with used stuff. I'm washing everything by hand, but it takes forever and I'm still not entirely sure things are clean. I finally found a decent plant list for our food forest, and I'll have to start tracking down cuttings and seeds for that. The dog has tape worm. Again. It's getting ridiculous, but the anti-flea stuff I've got on her just doesn't seem to be working. I want to move to the oral tablet they have for that, but she's still growing and they only sell 6 month supplies, which she'll grow out of quickly. The good news is that she has developed a healthy respect for the cats after a decidedly tense incident that involved me, an overly hot pot of wash water, two cats, and a rug. She is also coming along nicely with obedience commands and trick training. We get quail this weekend, which will be our main source of meat until a certain gentleman can be convinced to allow me to have some Toads, and I am thoroughly happy with the seed stock on that. This breeder is a gem, she's also who I acquired my seramas and orps from. I've never seen larger quail, they're downright huge. Well bigger than the seramas, and approaching bantum sized chickens. The eggs are larger than her serama's as well. She's also willing to keep them until they are off heat lamps for us, which is a huge plus.

Nice.....
:fl    hope all stays well for her and they get the tumor down with meds.

I am peachy thanks Phil

Quote: kid doc 245 no clue what to do at this point, I am banging my head at this point

pup is up and walking nodules and nodes are smaller

Thanks for asking

Good morning, ya'll! Haven't been able to get on here in a while, hope everyone is well or well on their way to being well!

Sally - stab in the dark here, and I am sure they already ran tests for it/did ultrasounds -- could it be gallstones? Upper right pain under the lowest ribs after eating a meal, back pain during most severe "gallbladder attack"...I don't know, thought I would suggest it. The ER doc had no idea what I had, had to go home and jump on the internet and diagnose myself -- I have no gallbladder anymore!
