EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Yes, I have a reason. We had chickens when I was quite little, I remember liking them. I had a favorite, who turned out to be a rooster and who we had to get rid of, we gave him to a friend... I also liked ducks. Some years later, we had different ducks and different chickens (the ducks were my favorite, there's another story about us getting them...) I liked them at first and I don't know why but they became NASTY. The were all bare back from getting on each other and eating feathers, I don't know why they did that, and I had a chicken jump on my back and scratch me. The chickens I liked out of the bunch all died, except one, who the others chased. I remembered imagining I was running a jail, since the chickens were always trying to escape. I remember being quite happy when we got rid of them. For awhile I was totally against them, now I don't mind them to much and actually like some breeds, but I will never like them nearly much as I like ducks.

This is just not right... Nope, all wrong!

Hi Mel. If I had ducks they'd be lovin the weather I'm sure. So far all is safe. Even if the dam were to completely fail I should be safe at this elevation. 3" since Saturday. I actually took the day off. So worked in barn and house.

I am going to take them to swaps and shows along with the pretty cleaned bathed oiled and perfumed Daddy. NO one should be able to resist with him there. He is a show stopping in my little mind. I love his colors and tail.

I am wondering how many shows will let me have a double cage for him, being such a small bird and all. I must protect the tail!

The last 2 shows I was at, certain breeds were required to pay for double cages if they wanted to show

Some ask you if you want them. Some don't. Some charge some don't. But I would pay for one before I put him in a single cage. I would hate to see his tail feathers on the floor no longer connected to his butt.

Thats how I am with my serama tails. I have some shorter cages for the smaller birds but show time, have to protect those sickle feathers!!!
