EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Yeah, I really need to get serious about collecting this water. Do you treat it once stored (or plan to)?

This is my attempt at mosquito control. It's one of two barrels open to the elements. I poured olive oil into the water and the gold glow was the result.

This is the barrels lined up. The abs pipe in the first picture goes up to the gutter. All are connected with pvc and no glue.

Wow those pictures were painfully slow.

Hmmmm, not to bring up something painful, but didn't you also have a chick drown?  :hide  (Or am I mis-remembering...)

That was a broody's chick, it drowned in a 1gal tub.

Oh, but I do start them out with mason jar lids for water, so I s'pose that may make a difference... Just the few days before switching to that waterer :hu

The article is not where I thought. I will try to remember to look for it, but basically, you build a raised bed, line it with pond liner put a couple of PVC tubes with holes in the bottom connecting to an 'up spout' that sticks up several inches above the dirt that you fit a cap on. You just uncap it and fill the PVC piping once a week or so, and it saves water. It also is freeing if you need to be gone a few days.
Good night guys.

Sounds like my brothers way of watering tomatoes. Only no liner.
