EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

So been looking into becoming a NPIP tester. In Wisconsin it is a 2 hr course and $25 fee. I am pretty sure this is the route I am going to take. Mostly because I have a little OCD issue with anyone else handling my birds. Although I believe any certified tester must take great pride in handling and managing a flock and could be a weath of knowledge (BYC covers that for me) I get a little eye twitch just thinking about someone touching every one of my birds. So my question is what have others paid for this service with chickens and turkeys? Did you haul them somewhere or did someone come to you?
I've only heard of the tester coming to the birds. Well, except at auction, the auction will test if you haven't been tested, or are from out of state. Not certain what anyone has paid, but if you want to be NPIP, a 2 hour course and $25 dollars would be worth it to test your own flock.

Hi Whites! You're still looking for a new/working boat trailer?

.
.Certainly am! Son's afraid to take the boat out for fear the trailer will give out & leave the boat sitting on the road, literally.

Got a line on one?
No, haven't really looked, I can start looking if you want.

@kwhites634

the part of the previous quote that didn't come out correctly are.

1.) you haven't been able to track down a trailer yet?
2.) We are forecast to hit 84* today. Crazy weather for the 1st of Mar.
Nope, not yet. Everything so far has been in as bad or worse shape than what we have, or too short. Tried to talk son into making a 17' out of a 16' by adding a length & sleeving it, but he ain't buying it.

I totally forgot about the EHAL. I've had my roosters separated for over a month. I just put my brahma hen in with my brahma rooster and my choc orpington hen with that rooster. Do you think their eggs will be fertile in time to set on March 26th? Sure hope so.

Heremail is the unknown bantam at 1 week.

Here are the 2 brahma babies that hatched Jan. 21st. A boy and a girl

Cuties!!!! Momma said her and dad are getting nice eggs from the brahma! I will have to see what colors they have over what colored hens, I forget!

Quick question, there is only 5" space between the floor of the cooler and the lightbulb. This ok? I never did look it up on the last Bator coz it had crazy high walls.

If I want it to go 2" higher, I'll have to buy new sockets...
ugh run it like that sweets you may have to raise them or have hot spots under them. what cfm is your fan? make sure you keep it set to blow directly on the bulbs but set just a bit under to help with those hot spots, only other thing is baffles perhaps if you have heat issues under them.
