EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I'm home! And gearing up for a read back. :yesss:

It was a 7-day cruise out of Galveston, TX, to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. About 6 hours in each port. We river rafted in Jamaica and had an excellent guide who pointed out local birds and plants. Jamaica had goats in all the ditches, they looked like nigerian dwarfs but bigger. The guide said the breeds they have are "nuban buck" and "english goats" and of course all the mixes. He said the nuban buck meat was very dry. I didn't bring my phone because of the water, so no pictures. The exchange rate was about $170 to $1 USD.

We snorkeled at 7-mile beach and Cemetery Beach in Grand Cayman. The parks, empty lots, and beaches were full of chickens and big yellow iguanas. GC was very expensive, and very American. Lots of strip malls with the same shops as at home, and lots of resorts. The exchange rate was $1 to $1.28USD or so.

I spent the day on a beach in Cozumel. Snorkeled a little, played with the kids. Very relaxing for a last stop. Exchange rate was about 20p to $1USD. When shopping I got local change so I have a little money from each country as a souvenir.

A few pics!

We saved a few hundred bucks by getting an inside cabin on deck 2. It was a godsend Friday with rough water because there was less movement than anywhere else. DD and I were the only two to get sick and we took long naps. In the pic DH is around the corner to the left. We had a small bathroom and cabinets for luggage.

They had super fun drinks for kids that looked just like the grownup versions. This was the only time we used the pools.

re: My Gift :hugs

My dear friends…
I am in shock, and also know that I am a big baby and crying.  I dont really know what to say, besides holy cow, thank you so very much, and OMG yer all nuts, that much $ at a chicken store!

Today I was talking to a BYC friend that lives local and we realized we have been yapping etc for over six years now about chickens and life, We were discussing when I cant babysit anymore what I can try to do next to help support my kids, I tried to explain to her when she asked if I get paid for anything I have done on BYC that I dont, but its been a major source for support through the most horrible times in my life.  When I realized the cancer support groups only brought me down more with the disappointments, discussion and even the deaths, I swore I needed to find something to occupy my time that keeps me uplifted and looking forward.

BYC and the associated hobbies/addictions sure took hold and helped me be more positive and realize I could still live my life even if I dont know the ending.  I wont go on, but I think you should all realize how much you mean to me.  :hugs Believe it or not, this has been minor compared to what I have been through, but to know that your cared ab and appreciated its absolutely amazing and I truly enjoy helping others with the incubation, not to mention trying to save some babies and stress from hatchers.

I have a lifelong list of mentors, everyone is wise in some way and has taught me something, its a gift to give back in any way.

Thanks for walking with me when I needed support, thanks for walking ahead me when I needed guidance and thanks for walking behind me when I needed someone to watch my back. thanks for tolerating my idiosyncrasies and crazy cattywampus habits.

You might not know this, but you helped me find happiness in being the person that I really am, thank you everyone :hugs

I don't know everything you've been through but I have gathered it hasn't always been easy for you. I do keep you in my prayers and I have always appreciated your words of encouragement and kindness with all my chicken troubles. Regardless of what you are going through, you never have forgotten your BYC friends and given us advice and encouragement (and humor) when we need it. You mean a lot to us, even those of us who have never had the pleasure to meet you. Love ya @Sally Sunshine

I don't have all the things I ever wanted but I do have everything I will ever need. I am thankful because although my life is by no means perfect, it's my life and I'm happy." -Anonymous

To everyone else...I enjoy reading along with you on this thread. I usually don't say much because I always seem to be a day behind and I'm always playing catch up. I'm currently 7 hours behind. That's improvement! But I do need to go feed the birds so I'm going to fall further behind again. You guys make me laugh sometimes but almost always make me smile. Sure glad I found you. @meltel Happy Anniversary and Congratulations
