I am sooooooooooo ready for the time change this weekend. I wish we would just stay on Daylight savings time year round. I like light when I home in the evenings.
The feed store by my house has chick day this Saturday. I threw out the idea that I could bring chicks to sell and they didn't seem too fond of the idea.I am SO not ready for all these new babies coming in the next couple weeks. got 15 turkeys. (going to sit out side TSC and try to sell 90% of them for a few bucks a piece, they already told me I could. haha)
I got my sebastapol geese, and 4 new ducklings coming in, and 4 more babies in the incubator due to hatch around the 20th.
I need to butcher, and get crap ready for spring.... all these new baby goats, too. I need to go to the goat auction and sell off all my pgymies so I can replace them with nubians.
I agree 100%. Both 95 and 104 scare me....
You're heat is ranging from 95 - 104? I would watch that, anyway to get it more stable or at least not reach 104?
...
It's a good skill to have but I'd rather muck out all my coops rather than butcher 1 bird.@ChickenCane
My thoughts exactly on giving them away. I was spending almost more on gas and fees than i was getting to take them to auction. Decided i would try my hand at processing them.

Probably because they don't sell turkeys, so i'm not in direct competition with their sales, and if people buy turkeys, they need turkey feed....The feed store by my house has chick day this Saturday. I threw out the idea that I could bring chicks to sell and they didn't seem too fond of the idea.

I've taught processing classes here 3 times. At least I had help and moral support to get about 50 birds processed.

I hope Cane likes chatterboxes.
Ordered some Just One Bite, by Farnham, yesterday. Used it on mice before, never rats. If it don't get the job done I'll be getting one of those.
I am glad you made it through it. I did it once and I am glad to know I could do it if I had to. Personally, it was too much work for the little difference. I just take my extra cockerels to the local swap meets and sell them to the Hispanic and Asian population that buy them for 5 or 6 bucks a piece. Then I can go to the store and just buy a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken or something.Morning all, Had the day off yesterday so I took the opportunity to process some excess roosters. First time experience but I made it through it and have meat in the freezer. Mixed thoughts at this point in time but we will see how they taste to see if it was worth the effort.
RALPHIE!! If you sent this freezing cold wind my way, I'm going to send you a blizzard in May.![]()
I thought you sent this crap to me~! I was doing a "get back@Banty crappy weather dance" all night long..
