I saw about 10 accidents on a trip out a bit ago, and 75%ish were pickups; drivers were either not from here or teens driving for the 1st time in bad weather.

My biggest NN from the original Ideal Hatchery group is Tank. The babies from crossing him and the GNH hens have almost all outgrown him (which is really saying something) - the boys are about 2.5-3 lbs at 8 weeks (girls behind by about 1/2-1 lb, as is typical for NNs). They are super sweet and personable. After I finished mowing the back (or at least all that I'm going to deal with at the moment), I went to visit them for a while. Tank has a marvelous disposition, and his offspring seem to have taken after him. One of the two largest is super friendly and adores me, and I've tentatively decided to name him Kirk; the other big one that I may keep might very well be Spock. I have a Khan in the hatch after them - fierce little fella.

I am so freaking over this mirgaine/sickness/allergy combo thing.

Tylonal and icepacks aren't cutting it today, i've been unable to do more then just kind of lay here and beg my kids not to torture me with screaming, and ask them to get along today.

And, I know, if go anywhere to ask for something stronger than tylonal, they won't give me anything.

I went to the local walk in place, for antibiotics, and they made it clear they wouldn't give me pain meds, when I was asking for antibiotics. ^.^ (I never even ASKED for pain meds, all I said was it hurts to bend my thumb because I got an infection in it from stabbing myself with hay when I was feeding the goats. It was swollen, red, and had infected spots.) I just wanted antibiotics. that was it.

okay, whine over, back to icepacks over my face.

I hope you get to feeling better soon, and the infection clears up soon.

A pickup w/o studs or weight over the rear axle has about as much traction as a sled!

I'm so sorry.

I use stuff like BC powders plus benadryl when I get allergy-type migraines. The bonus with benedyrl is that it dries you out (reducing any congestion causing problems), and also can knock you out - once mine get going, sometimes sleep is the only thing that works.

I'm thinking the GNH will out do the S&G.

As for cardboard holding down weeds here's comparison just be sure not to slip on the cardboard it's real slick when dry. The piles of chicken stuff was from the coop that needed digging out. Nice dry dusty stuff. I will rototill this afternoon if I've got it in me.

I'm thinking you may be right. I'll get weights and give them a chance, but I suspect my chicken math problem will correct itself when it's time to cull. I'll probably keep the pullets, as I seem to always need pullets. (Yup, I've totally wiped out on cardboard down in the weedy garden paths. Gotta pull the cardboard to the back - that's on the list, the long long list...)

We in the south are VERY familiar with black ice - we get it a lot more frequently than snow that sticks (esp. in Atlanta, where I used to live). Most sane folks know how to drive on it down here, though there are always some idiots who don't. Oddly, it's usually some bone head from the north used to dry snow and salted roads - "Ha ha, silly southerners, I can drive in this..." (skiddddddd, BAM!)
