High humidity does not allow the chicks to loose enough water so that they can move inside the egg, They need to rotate to draw in the yolk and to unzip. This results in dead "mushy" chicks.
Also at pip too much fluid in the egg results in drowning in the egg before hatch.
A lady on another forum said she was surprised any of my eggs were still alive and that I should open my eggs asap. This was after I told her we followed the recommendation for humidity in the book that came with the incubator. It says never let humidity fall under 65. It even beeps if it does. So, I took her advice and opened one. It was alive for a short time, then died. It's yolk is not absorbed. Is the high humidity that caused this to underdevelopment? This chick was day 25. Placed in incubator 2/20. Do I leave the other eggs alone, or are they just all doomed to die?
but whoever told you to open them was not giving you sound advice
there is nothing you can do at this point BUT we can make adjustments for your next set

Thank you everyone. My kids are saddened, but we learn from our experiences. I upped the temp and left the others alone. They are still moving, so I cannot give up on them. When this batch has likely all expired, we will try again. My son disappeared on me for a while. He went outside to hold his chicken. She's his therapy for hurt feelings.
