EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

LOL LOL okay . Well if you followed yesterdays conversation ...this was a good one. I am doing this because I have a chick that is such an industrious scratcher that she will scratch the entire contents of the feeder onto the brooder floor. She is gaining record speed in her efforts and passing her bad manners of throwing food on the floor to all the other children . I mean chicks ! ( 16 chicks in all )

If it is flu my all star favourite is elderberry. You can make tea from the flowers. Elderberry jam on toast is very tasty if you have the appetite . Some people like the wine . Also vinny.... 1 tb of raw honey 1 tb of raw vinegar in 1 cup of water . Adjust the taste to suit you. This will dry up the mucous naturally. I drink a quart of this with a TB of powdered ginger and a pinch of cayenne . It really is my all natural standby.

Good Morning folks. I have another question if anyone would like to entertain us again today with suggestions? LOL How do YOU feed fermented feed to your hens / chicks? I have cochin babies and I have to admit that their very adorable feather legs are getting kinda sloppy looking from this method.:sick

When I feed it, I put it in a 1-gal rubber tub.

(Yes whites, I stopped coz it kept freezing)

So ... I appreciate the fermented feed and am doing it. I am hoping other FF user can share their adminstration techniques. I am findind it messy but I am still commited to trying it.The chicks love it and purr ( if a chicken can) after they eat it up.

If they flip the bowl; you could put it in a wooden trug w/ low edges... Might be heavy enough to prevent it, 'specially if you fill round it with gravel

I loved the pictures of Sally Sunshine's chickens in the FF thread. Are they full size Cochin or bantams? I have both and have to admit that I really adore this breed !

I think I am going to go to the store to get a few more things to do this. I just moved here and do not have much stuff accumulated to work with. C'est la vi.

1. You will miss all the fun

2. Set them all

3. Woo whoo.

If you set the eggs, then sell the chicks and make lots of $$$$$$$ then you can go buy the new bator.

How much more do you get for chicks compared to eggs, and how more many chicks would you need to hatch to pay for one, if the extra "egg" chicks were to be hatched?? Then you can justify buying one to WWD.

Hope you get what I was trying to say.

BTW justification is over rated IMO -easier to just do it and beg forgiveness .

Nothing would happen chez moi if we had to discuss everything.

I have 3 incubators (real ones) 4 foamies I try to never use and 1 hatcher. I am not sure I need more. What I get for eggs and chicks depends on the breed. I can justify anything.
