EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Blood hound was caught carrying a chicken around today. Husband warned me to not let him outside unsupervised. He likes to carry around stuffed animals in the same way he was carrying said chicken. Chicken was slobbered on, but otherwise unharmed. I guess he's fond of the chickens. I don't see him mauling one, but I do seem him squishing one to death on accident in an attempt to carry it around like a stuffed animal.

Hubby yelled at him to drop it and the chicken teetered off as soon as he put it down.

glad the bird was ok, i can def picture this lol

Poor chicken, but I bet it was funny. Sorry I forgot you in the tag about Texas men, and the way they say yes ma'am.
I bet you would agree.

Our dog Bob will pick up chickens if you tell him to, only he picks them up by the wings so they don't struggle and he doesn't accidentally hurt one. I've yet to see him leave so much as a scratch on one.

He holds them like this.

I'm glad the chicken is ok.

I worked 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM for 7 years; loved it. I could get a day's work in @ whatever I wanted to do, then go to work
12:00 midnight to 8:30 was a whole 'nuther story!
So true. I worked evenings (5:30 PM till 4 AM) for so many years and hated it. I had zero social life. There are no theaters, museums, bars, restaurants, symphonies, etc. at 4AM.
My last job there had me on 3 rotating shifts. Every 8 days my shift would change. That may sound bad but I looked at the bright side. Every 8 days I had my days and evenings free, then I'd have my evenings and nights free, and so on. The money was better too. Barring a catastrophe, which was rare, all I had to do was monitor all the systems - electric, natural gas, propane, fire protection, compressed air, cooling towers and incoming city water. Most days it was a breeze.

I go to work to rest and relax and most people that try to the job I do quit because it is to stressful....I am not scared of anything I have 5 sons.
I used to say that after vacations.

Thank you very much my freind! Look what I have seen in the T.V just now!
Isn't that a coincident?

Is that the same episode where Jerry's dentist started telling Jewish jokes saying it was OK because he was converting to Judaism? Jerry went to a priest to complain. The priest asked Jerry if it offended him as a Jewish person. Jerry said, "no, it offends me as a comedian".

Good morning everyone!

I have turkey poults hatching this morning. I was really concerned about them some I'm hatching in the bottom of the cabinet bator this time. I just didn't have room in my hatcher for all my turkey eggs and chicken eggs. I could not, no matter how hard I tried, get the humidity above 55% so this morning, I broke the rules and opened it to check on them (and cram in another bowl of water). Thera one hatches, a while bunch of pips and one unzipping. I shut it quick as soon as I got the water in there but they should be fine. The only thing that stinks with the 1202 is not having a viewing window when you need it! Chicks should start hatching tomorrow since my poults are ALWAYS a day early.

I'm very excited too. The blue birchen brahma eggs I ordered last week are out for delivery and should be here today! I thought they weren't coming till tomorrow. This works perfect and I can just set them with all my regular eggs. I'll be setting my first batch of silver welbars too tomorrow

I had to do some opening on the last hatch because it was the most protracted hatch I've ever had.
I put a dozen eggs under a broody and the next day, I put a bunch of eggs in an incubator. The broody kept coming off the eggs and finally abandoned them so I put them in the incubator. Rather than hatching first, the broody eggs hatched after the ones I put in the incubator which were also protracted. I ended up only getting one chick from the broody eggs. It went on for about 3 days.

I fished a tournament at Kinkaid too. Those IL lakes are much different than MO lakes. IL was leveled by glaciers. MO lakes south of the MO river are in very hilly/mountainous country.
