I think the trick is having a bunch of small brooders instead of big one (Big ones are hard to clean) and having hay for bedding since It is easy to clean up, and havng there waterer be a plastic milk carton with a hole it. My brooder is a plastic tote with straw in it and a plastic milk carton for a waterer. Every day I put the ducklings outside in there pen and get a rake or pitchfork and take out he dirty hay and put in some new hay. I think having a brooder you can clean easily is the key. I used a big one with shavings (shavings are a pain) and It was so hard to clean that I would delay cleaning as long as I could (Which meant it was really stinky in the garage), and my waterer did not have much of a catch-tray. This time, brooding has been a piece of cake! (and a whole lot ofDuck people how do you keep your ducklings area clean? My mom wanted ducks so bad that my dad bought 7 ducklings at TSC the other night and I am taking care of them for her but these things are messy!
