Well, if I whine here, everyone pretty much knows what I'm talking about. When I try to explain it to non-chicken, non-livestock, or non-farmer folks, they just sort of look at me blankly...

If I didn't have 70 chicks growing out, I'd say send them to me. But I would then die of exhaustion trying to build too many growout pens...

I've got a great idea. Move here, and we can whine to each other all day about how much we have to do.

And then I can teach you about snowplows.

So I went to move the chicks from the broody this afternoon. Was quite an encounter with a not happy hen. Four of the chicks disappeared through the cyclone fencing which I didn't see at the time as I was wrestling a very mad hen and trying to catch chicks at the same time. Managed to catch one the rest I thought went under the feed box. Well two did the others went out of the coop. Which is the reason I was moving them in the first place. It's not a chick tight coop and well critters like chickens especially chicks around here. The other reason to move them, it's the driest area of the coop and the rest of hens need back in. It's RAINING again!!!!!
Here's one of the chicks that came out of hiding when hen called to it. In order for this day old chick to get to this spot it had to climb a 3&1/2 foot vertical wall. Fortunately they all came back to mom when she called them.

I'd candle them, then eat them. :LOL

And soon you'll need a bigger piece of property because of all the built grow out pens which will require more hours at work and....

Did you say you were trying to switch to decaf.

My new doctor knows a thing or two about chickens. Found this out when he asked what my hobbies were. I told him chickens. He asked what type how many what do I use them for etc. When I answered all his questions he said that's not a hobby that's a small business.
