EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

So after confirmation with some co-workers, it seems as though I'm missing out. Apparently they still do the chamber as part of basic but it must have been down when I went through.

You got lucky

It was '94 that I had the pleasure. Think drowning and burning alive at the same time. Felt super good after though, and a big accomplishment/achievement knowing that under the circumstances your mind/body can and will still do what it needs to do. They don't let you out until everybody in it is following orders.
Afterwards some of the drill sergeants did pushups in it for fun just to see who could last the longest Lol!

Sounds accurate to a T. Maybe I'm not missing out. 4 deployments and a 5th(that would have been worse than the previous 4 combined but got cancelled a week before moevment). I'm surprised it didn't make it into my training.
Especially going places where chemical weapons could be encountered.

Mine was in '72 and I was one of the older guys in the unit.

Allow me to briefly describe it for you.
You enter the chamber wearing your gas mask. Then you are told to remove it and give your name, rank, service number and date of birth.
If you take a deep breath before you take the mask off, you may be able to get a couple words out while your skin burns where you scraped it with the mask. The first time you need to take a breath, the pain is so severe it is impossible to inhale. Eventually you're completely unable to breathe as though you're under water. Finally they let you leave and everyone goes running out coughing with crap flowing out of their noses and mouth.

Sound like fun! But I think that I am the only one here that actually set in a chamber with his family wearing gas mask while skud missiles falling. 1991 first Golf war. 26 years. ...how time flys!

I'm sure you are but no, it isn't fun.
Once was more than enough - and they made me do it 3 more times.

Maybe they thought we were bored or they were just sadistic. I'm leaning toward the latter.

This Easter boy hatched with a strange layer over his eye. I was worried that he had no eye. Once dried, it starts to peel, so I pulled it off, and revealed a normal eye. He seems to be visual and normal now. Has anyone ever seen this before?

This one?? Never encountered it myself but others may have. Chatting about life is part of the thread but often times post get buried. There is a wealth of knowledge on this thread but nobody has encountered it all. Some come and do readbacks to offer assistance, some reply to being tagged. If nobody has encountered it personally then often times they will not chime in.

I guess my question to actual "educational hatching" must be a no. I can't even find it anymore.

Don't get discouraged asking questions here, it can get chatty sometimes. Lot's of wealth of knowledge here, questions get answered eventually. I turned back on my e-mail that tells you if someone responds or quotes you just so I wouldn't have to read through hundreds of posts

Wish the e-mail thing didn't show every single thread update though.
